About Robert James Merrett

Robert Merrett wrote his doctorate at the Shakespeare Institute in the University of Birmingham. Coming to Canada in 1969, he was appointed full professor in 1981, later serving two terms as Associate Dean of Arts and six years as Vice-President (Development) for the Canadian Federation of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Ottawa from 2001 to 2006. He was also President of two Societies for the study of the Eighteenth Century.
